Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485)

A temporary visa that allows international students to live, study and work after you have finished your studies.

  • Post-Vocational Education Work stream
    This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs. It lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily.

  • Post-Higher Education Work stream
    This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. It lets you live, work and study in Australia temporarily.
  • Second Post-Higher Education Work stream
    This visa is for Temporary Graduates holding a Post-Higher Education Work, Post-Study Work or Replacement visa with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional area. It lets you live, work and study in Australia temporarily.

Training Visa (subclass 407)

This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia.

Resident Return Visa (subclass 155 and 157)

If you leave Australia after your travel validity expires, or it expires when you are outside Australia, you will not be able to return to Australia as a permanent resident. This visa allows you to return as a permanent resident.

Australian Citizenship Application

There are several pathways to becoming an Australian citizen, with the most common being:

  • By Conferral
    Available to permanent residents, including New Zealand Special Category visa (SCV) holders.
  • By Decent
    If one of your parents was an Australian citizen at the time of your birth overseas

Student Visa (subclass 500) and School Application

This visa allows you to visit Australia to participate in a course of study.

Student Guardian Visa (subclass 590)

This visa allows you to visit Australia to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18 years of age (or over 18 in exceptional circumstances).

Visitor Visa (subclass 600)

For tourists, business visitors or to visit family for 3, 6 or 12 months

  • Tourist stream
    This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to visit family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment. You can apply either outside or in Australia.
  • Business visitor stream
    This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons.

  • Approved Destination Status stream
    This visa stream is for citizens from certain areas of China visiting Australia on a tour organised by an approved travel agent.

  • Frequent traveller stream
    This visa stream is for citizens of the People’s Republic of China who travel often to Australia for business or personal reasons.

  • Sponsored family stream
    This visa stream lets people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, come to Australia to see their family members.

AAT Visa Appeal
